2024 Summer Elementary Workshop

NMEA invites General Music Elementary teachers to our 2024 Summer Elementary Workshop with clinician Amy Abbott! This one-day workshop will focus on Kodály concepts and resources. 

Due to scheduling conflicts with another summer elementary music program, our 2024 Summer Elementary Workshop has been rescheduled to Monday, July 8. It will still take place on UNK's campus.

WHEN: Monday, July 8, 8:30 am - 4:00 pm (NEW DATE!)

WHERE: University of Nebraska-Kearney, Fine Arts Building (2506 12th Ave)

COST: $50 for Active NMEA Members, $25 for Collegiate Members, $60 for non-members

CLINICIAN AMY ABBOTT

Amy Abbott has been teaching elementary music since 1998. She taught for three years in the Salem-Keizer School district before returning home to Colorado. She have been teaching in the St. Vrain Valley School district since 2001 and is currently at Red Hawk Elementary teaching preschool-5th grade general music, 4/5 choir, 4/5 drum ensemble, a 4th grade tone-chime choir and a 5th grade tone-chime choir.

Amy has presented at various conferences and workshops including the Colorado Music Educator's Conference, the Oregon Arts Alliance Conference, ROCKE workshops, and at SVVSD music teacher work sessions. She served on the ROCKE (Regional Organization of Colorado Kodály Educators) for 7 years, as member-at-large, secretary and president. In 2013, she was one of 10 Colorado teachers awarded a Jared Polis Educator award. She is also the current Pedagogy and Folk Song teacher at the Colorado Kodály Institute at Colorado State University.

Amy received her undergraduate degree in music education from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her masters in music education with a Kodály emphasis from Colorado State University. She has Kodály certifications from Portland State University and from Colorado State University.
