Bryan R. Johnson Distinguished Service Award
Each year the Nebraska Music Education Association Board of Directors gives special recognition to those who have made outstanding contributions to our profession by recognizing them with our Bryan R. Johnson Distinguished Service Award at the Annual Awards Dinner. The purpose of the NMEA Distinguished Service Award is to recognize outstanding service/contribution to the Nebraska Music Education Association. Distinguished Service awards are determined and given by the NMEA Board of Directors to deserving individuals, or groups of individuals.
The NMEA Distinguished Service Award was first presented in 1994. In 2012 the award name was changed to the Bryan R Johnson Distinguished Service Award. Bryan was a long-time NMEA Board member who passed away unexpectedly in 2012. Changing the distinguished service award to include his name was very appropriate since Bryan was the epitome of service to NMEA. He gave countless hours of service - above and beyond what was expected - throughout the years.
